connectTV technology

The presentation will show the connectTV technology of DiscVision that was developed in very close cooperation of DiscVision and the research group of Prof. Dr. Morisse from the department of Computer Science at the Univesity of Applied Siences Osnabrück. The system that is presented there allows the seamless access to home media systems (e.g. STB and PVR systems) using mobile devices that are connected to the Internet. Using this technology it is possible to access media information that is stored in the private users home as well as access home control system from outside the local home in an easy and transparent way. Thus, it the overall amount of media information that are available within the users private home is accessible in the "Extended Home" making it possible to share this information with other users.

Image Description

The connectTV technology is implemented on some state-of-the-art Personal Video Recorders that are developed by DiscVision. Thus, using the connectTV technology it is possible to remotly control the PVR at home from any point in the world using mobile Internet devices. As the PVR is the gateway to the home control system, the user can also control a large number of physical devices within the users home covering the whole range of lighting, heating and others.
